A new Semester of Volunteering (YCP)

Volunteering every friday 2.30-5.30pm :D

Last week, we organised a movie event for our youths :D The movie, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" was played at the dance room of Clemeti Student Care Services Centre. After the movie, we did a reflection with our youth regarding the movie.

On the 16th, 17th, and 18th August, Clementi Youth Sparks set up a booth at the CSC clubroom during outreach to promote CYS's slogan of 'A small spark that kindles a great fire' and to expound on the two main areas of voluntary work in CYS. I'm sure most of you are aware of the two programmes by now !  ((: They are the Youth Clubhouse Programme and the Youth Mentorship Programme. The outreach was a great success as there was a total of 90 individuals who had indicated interest in our programme. (:

On 22nd August, CYS organised an orientation visit to Clementi Student Care Services Centre for interested volunteers to have a look at the centre and be awed by the facilities at the clubhouse which volunteers can make full use of to interact and slowly befriend the youths. :D

Outreach 2010

On 31st August 2010, we had our orientation visit at SCS (Clementi) centre itself! We were glad to see many interested volunteers taking time off their schedules to attend the visit. (:

After a short introduction by Sengmeng about SCS and the programmes volunteers can participate in, we went for mini tour around the youth clubhouse which is used for our Youth Clubhouse Programme (YCP), and Youth Mentorship Programme (YMP)!

CNY 2010

Once a year, the awesome volunteers of Clementi Youth Sparks gather to celebrate Chinese New Year! And in 2010, yet again, we found ourselves in great great company. Like-minded volunteers FTW! :D

Of course, a celebration cant be without games and prizes!!! With all these food tempting us, the two teams set off to win the match!!

Well, this has got nothing to do with our games that day, but still, our jamming room! Super love our jamming room :P Jamming with the youths can get really addictive! hahaha. 

 Alright!!! Match begins! And we have the foosball station! 

Pool station coming up, it was exciting! We had to get as many balls in as possible within a minute! And it was teamwork at play!

Ok, I honestly can't remember what other stations we had cos I was having too much fun myself to register anything else. 

Well, if I didn't remember wrongly, the winner team!

And then we all proceeded to BINGO! Look at Sengmeng all focused on reading the numbers! We were counting on him to win prizes mannnn! Feel the anxiety in the air when he was turning the thing...

HAHAHA Seems like Bingo doesn't make all happy.

At least these 3 are happy. hahahahaha.

Youth Mentorship Outing

Our 1st outing to Marina Barrage for Mentorship 2010! We gathered at Clementi SCS center in the morning before we set off to Marina Barrage! Weather was rather good and most importantly WINDY; as we were going for kite flying!!!

It was definitely a fun and memorable experience for both Mentors and Mentees!

1st Mentorship Session 2010

*This is just something I created; not official.

It's the 1st session on the brand new, formerly known dearly to us as Befriending, of Mentorship 2010!

First of all, we would like to thank our social worker in charge, Ms Cindy Koh for helping us prepare the foods and drinks, as well as kickstart the session with a briefing for the youths!

Next, we welcomed all the new Mentors to the programme =D Also, it's nice to see the 'old' Mentors as well to be continuing with the programme! Hope we will do our best for the programme!

Lastly, the YOUTHS! Well, the proper name for them would be the Mentees!!! With the previous batch of Mentees, and also the new Mentees for this year! Hope we will have fun and make new friends!

In our 1st session, we started off with self introduction, followed by an Ice breaking game; Wacko. Later on, Wei Ying and myself conducted the Food Auction game to allow interactions between the Mentors and Mentees in 3 different groups. Each group has to discuss their bidding strategy to outbid the rest and win the prize. In our case, they will be bidding for their favourite snacks!!! Kit kats, Oreo, Chips, Milo packet drinks etc.

At the end of the game, we are happy to see that even though each group has their winning food prizes, they would share their 'winnings' with the rest of the groups =D The Mentee would walked around to share the food with other Mentees and Mentors.

The session ended with a birthday celebration and cake cutting for all the January, Feburary and March 'babies'.

New Center, New Activity, Same Old Fun :)

a new sem had begun and we have our session once more. The difference this time round is: we have shifted.
the new center was a refreshing outlook. just the activities room will leave u drooling. here a quick snapshots of the facilities.
